UPDATE [1/12/19]: In honor of Joel’s birthday today, relive this ever-amusing clip of the Umphrey’s McGee keyboardist reading mean tweets about his band.

Umphrey’s McGee is currently on tour through the west coast, with one more night in Portland, OR before heading to California to meet up with jazz/funk trio Organ Freeman for stops in South Lake Tahoe, Oakland, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Of course, spending weeks on the road allows for Umphrey’s McGee members to interact with their fans online, or, read what they have to say on the Internet. Such was the case on Thursday night, when keyboardist Joel Cummins took the opportunity of his bus ride to read some comments from the “mean” section of Twitter on Facebook Live.

“The music didn’t do enough for me to keep me awake,” one person tweeted. “Vocals are cringe-worthy, keys player sucks and contributes nothing to the jams,” tweeted another. Meanwhile, bandmembers Jake Cinninger and percussionist Andy Farag make peanut butter sandwiches and relax in the background, seemingly confused about why Cummins is reading a bunch of mean tweets on Live For Live Music’s Facebook Live. Watch the hilarity ensue, below:
