The Motet keyboardist Joey Porter has released the funky lead single from his forthcoming solo album, and it carries a sorely needed message for these uncertain times: “We’re Gonna Be Alright”.

As Porter explains of the 8-minute track,

These days I tend to repeat certain sentences over and over in my head to convince myself it’s going to be OK. With so much uncertainty it can be difficult to keep a positive outlook. Right now there is too much darkness and I thought we could all use a little light. So I wrote this funky groove to sing about positivity and hope. I got my wife Jacque and oldest daughter Sonata to sing on the tune as well!

The song is a blast of carefree energy at a time when that feels harder and harder to come by. With plenty of talk box riffing, a chunky bass synth foundation, and the Porter family’s finely tuned harmonies, “We’re Gonna Be Alright” will have fans repeating its mantra while getting down in the kitchen.
