John Mayer‘s solo arena tour rolled into California’s Bay Area on Monday for a performance at San Francisco’s newest major music venue, the Chase Center. The two-set performance saw Mayer deliver a mix of material out of his solo catalog and welcome a few of his rock and roll pals, Bob Weir and Sammy Hagar, to help play on a Grateful Dead fan favorite.

The first set opened with “Helpless”, “Who Says”, and “Love on the Weekend”, before continuing with “Moving On and Getting Over”, and “Something Like Olivia”, with the latter featuring an intro based around the main riff of the Dead’s “China Cat Sunflower”. The set continued with “Changing”, and “Waiting on the World to Change” before closing with “Waiting on the Day” and “I Don’t Trust Myself (With Loving You).
Following setbreak, Mayer returned to the stage solo to open up the second half of the show with acoustic renditions of “Emoji of a Wave” and “Daughters”. Mayer was then joined by bandmate guitarist David Ryan Harris to play his cover of Tom Petty‘s “Free Fallin'” before the rest of the band joined in to play “Belief” and “Why Georgia”. Following performances of “Stop This Train” and “Rosie”, Mayer welcomed his Dead & Company bandmate Bob Weir to help play on Mayer’s “Queen of California”, which transitioned right into a cover of the Dead’s “Fire on the Mountain” with Hagar coming out to join in on vocals.

The show continued with an interpolation of Prince‘s “The Beautiful Ones”, which led into “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room”. The set came to a close following “In the Blood” and “Gravity”, only to have the band return to the stage for a two-song encore of “Born and Raised” and “New Light”.
