Karina Rykman will reclaim her status as a headlining late-night reveler with a Fest by Nite show in New Orleans during Jazz Fest 2026. Set for Saturday, May 2nd (technically early a.m. 5/3) at the Toulouse Theatre, the show follows the bassist’s 2025 Fest by Nite appearances supporting/sitting in with Mike Gordon and honoring Phil Lesh in A Dream We Dreamed [get tickets].

The NYC “City Kid” has a robust Jazz Fest pedigree peppered with guest-filled all-nighters, both with her own namesake group and as part of Marco Benevento‘s live trio. She has also made notable New Orleans appearances at other Jazz Fest-adjacent events like Daze Between New Orleans.

After taking 2025 off from her customary NOLA late-night at Frenchmen Street’s Blue Nile, Karina and her namesake trio—which also features guitarist Adam November and drummer Chris Corsico—will bring their after-midnight rager to the Toulouse Theatre in the heart of the French Quarter.

Since bursting onto the jam scene with Benevento’s trio, Karina Rykman has proven herself anything but a supporting player. Her solo shows fluctuate from raw, heavy psych-rock to hummable dream-pop within the span of a verse and chorus. Onstage, she’s the physical embodiment of the joy live music can bring, bouncing around in a blur of sparkles, smiles, and high-top sneakers. In 2023, Rykman issued her full-length solo debut, JOYRIDE. Featuring co-production and instrumental contributions from Phish’s Trey Anastasio, JOYRIDE refines Rykman’s effervescent live experience in the studio for an album that fits in the back of a cab just as well as at a late-night festival campsite.
