As Khruangbin celebrates the release of its third full-length album, Mordechai, one industrious YouTuber has stepped into an alternate reality to examine what the band would sound like with Frank Sinatra was on lead vocals.

The group’s new album, released today, June 26th, is the first to feature vocals throughout the record, but YouTube funnymen The Gregory Brothers took the band’s exotic exploration a bit further and dubbed The Chairman of the Boards into the Texas group’s iconic sound.

The video, uploaded to YouTube on Thursday, shows Khruangbin during the band’s performance for Pitchfork Live back in 2018. Just as Donald Ray “DJ” Johnson drops the drum beat into “Cómo Me Quieres” from Con Todo El Mundo, Sinatra comes in with the first line of “My Way” as Mark Speer lays out the first reverb-soaked chord. While the Khruangbin audio has been edited somewhat to mimic the more-conventional tone found in 1960’s crooner classics, the music does line up fairly well. If Sinatra hadn’t died in 1998, perhaps he would’ve been considered for the group’s first collaborative EP, rather than Leon Bridges.

Enjoy Khruang Binatra, aka Khruangbin featuring guest vocals from Frank Sinatra.
