All six original Kudzu Kings members—Tate Moore, Robert Chaffe, Kudzu Dave Woolworth, Max Williams, George McConnell, and Chuck Sigler—will take the stage at The Loft immediately following Dead & Company’s show on the other side of town earlier that evening.
When people try to envision Kudzu Kings and DJ Logic onstage together, there is often a puzzled look, a head scratch, and perhaps a question like, “How is that going to work?” However, once you look closer at the many musical threads that connect the two very different acts, the question quickly becomes, “How is it possible that this exciting co-bill is not already a full-blown thing?”
DJ logic brings his unique Brooklyn-bred style of turntable innovation to every collaboration and consistently elevates each experience whether it is with jam bands, hip hop, jazz, funk or singer/songwriters. The Kudzu Kings have always been a great live band, a melting pot of original sounds that combines the best of the Mississippi Delta blues, Mississippi Hill country and a little New Orleans funk that they refer to as “funktry”.
Their paths should have intersected on several occasions throughout the last two decades. At different points, both acts have collaborated with heavy hitters like Bob Weir, Rob Wasserman, and Widespread Panic and at historical venues around the country like Tipitina’s, Red Rocks, and Center Stage.

In September 2018, Kudzu Kings and DJ Logic finally took the stage together at The Lyric in Oxford, Mississippi. The performance turned into a three-hour hootenanny that blew the roof off the place. Everyone involved agreed that they needed find a way to take the stage together again, and he opportunity to reunite at the Loft in Atlanta, following the Dead & Co show, was too good to pass up.
When asked about the upcoming show, DJ Logic said, “I loved playing with the Kudzu Kings back in Oxford, man. Everything just clicked. When we take the stage in Atlanta it’s going to be like a family reunion up there.”
The Kudzu Kings have entered their 25th year with new material and plenty of good will, good times, and they sound better than ever. “Our show last fall with DJ Logic can only be described as an interstellar collision. Joining him for another special collaboration in Atlanta is guaranteed to be epic,” said bassist & co-founder Dave Woolworth.
The band is currently working on a commemorative release of live material and is scheduled to record new songs in June 2019 with Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars). Meanwhile, DJ Logic is wrapping up a West Coast tour which has already coincided with several Dead & Company shows.
