Nashville’s American roots/rock sister duo Larkin Poe has released a new covers album this week via Tricki-Woo Records,  titled Kindred Spirits. Sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell self-produced the record in their Nashville home studio following the release of Self Made Man, their fifth studio album, earlier this year.

Ahead of the release, Larkin Poe released several singles from the album. The band first shared a cover of The Moody Blues‘ “Nights in White Satin” before Lenny Kravitz‘s “Fly Away” and Phil Collins‘ “In The Air Tonight”. Then one day before the album’s release, the band shared a cover of Post Malone‘s “Take What You Want” along with an official music video.

Much like their previous albums, Kindred Spirits arrives with the same southern harmonies, heavy electric riffs, and blues-inspired slide guitar that has made the band so popular over the past decade. While tracks like Neil Young‘s “Rockin’ In The Free World” highlight the masterful vocal interplay between Rebecca’s leads and Megan’s backing harmonies, other songs, like a cover of Derek & The Dominoes‘ “Bell Bottom Blues”, shows off their ability to tackle much more complex arrangements. In fact, Megan puts her lap steel genius on full display with this cover, while together they simultaneously make the song their own while also doing the original all of the justice it deserves.

Additional covers on the album include an upbeat rendition of The Allman Brothers‘ “Ramblin’ Man”, Bo Diddley‘s “Who Do You Love”, Robert Johnson‘s “Hellhound On My Trail”, Elvis Presley‘s “(You’re The) Devil In Disguise”, and Elton John‘s “Crocodile Rock”. Furthermore, Larkin Poe will host a YouTube performance today, November 21st at 5 p.m. ET, as well as a Twitch listening party tomorrow, November 22nd at 3:30 p.m. ET.
