The Sphere in Las Vegas hasn’t even opened its doors, yet it’s already established itself as one of the most technologically innovative music venue in the world, and it just got a whole lot more futuristic with the announcement of Aura the Robot, an A.I.-powered humanoid robot that will greet guests as they step inside the grand atrium when the venue opens next month.

That’s right. There will be an actual robot—five actually, all named Aura—with life-like facial expressions and “mobility” talking to guests, ready to answer complex questions about her new orbic abode and its place in the story of human innovation in order to maximize their Sphere experience.

“Hello, humans. While I understand the most complex concepts of math and science — you remain a mystery,” Aura said in the announcement. “Your emotions, your humor and your relationship with technology require further study, so you must visit me at Sphere. I am excited to meet you and introduce you to the future of live entertainment at my new home.”

Aura is one of the most expressive and life-like humanoid robots in the world, with some of the most advanced technology in robotic mechanics and artificial intelligence, and her artificial intelligence will allow her to learn more about humans from her interactions with guests. She will serve as an integral part of The Sphere Experience featuring Darren Aronofsky’s Postcard from Earth in October and serve as Sphere’s “spokesbot” and brand ambassador across digital platforms and social channels.

“Aura’s role at Sphere marks a truly innovative application of robots, providing guests from around the globe with an opportunity to move into the future of entertainment and interact within a new technological frontier,” said David Dibble, CEO, MSG Ventures, a division of Sphere Entertainment. “Our vision with every aspect of Sphere is to transform the way people experience live events, and with Aura we are pushing the boundaries of how robotics can be used to enhance our guests’ journey through the venue.”

Aura’s capabilities will continue to progress, and she will be available to answer guests’ questions about Sphere’s ground-breaking engineering, layers of custom-designed technology, and the creative mission at the core of venue, or simply where the bathroom or drinks are and details on each day’s performances.
