Leftover Salmon made its way to Denver, CO’s Mission Ballroom on Friday night where the band performed without co-founder Vince Herman.

Early in the day, Herman took to social media and posted a video explaining his absence. Recorded from his Nashville home, Herman told fans that he wouldn’t be able to make this weekend’s shows at Denver’s Mission Ballroom or Steamboat Springs, CO’s Strings Music Pavilion (1/29) due to health concerns relating to a heart issue.

“Just got back from the hospital here in Nashville where they were going to have to turn my heart off and jumpstart it back into the right rhythm,” said Herman. “Right before they put me under my heart went back into regular rhythm and [I] didn’t have to have the procedure. I’m psyched about that but doc says I can’t go anywhere for a while, especially not back to altitude.”

In lieu of Herman’s absence, guitarist and vocalist Keller Williams and mandolinist Tim O’Brien stepped in and filled his shoes for the Denver faithful. Williams worked double duty on Friday, helping to open the show with his Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass project after a set from The HillBenders.
