The Peach Festival did not disappoint this year, with the festival tapping some of the biggest names in the scene for the gathering of Allman Brothers Band extended family and friends in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While Saturday hosted an all-star tribute to Butch Trucks and Gregg Allman, which has now become one of the focal points of the weekend, the four-day festival was jam packed with unreal musical moments that will be remembered by attendees for years to come. One such performance was the funk gurus of Lettuce’s collaboration with the legendary Chaka Khan, which closed out the festival’s main stage on Friday night.

Dubbed the “ChakaLett” set, the prolific singer and funk icon, Chaka Khan, and her back-up singers joined the Brooklyn-born funk act for the middle portion of Lettuce’s set. Together, the two prominent funk acts teamed for five songs—”I’m A Woman,” “Tell Me Something Good,” “Love The One You’re With,” “Sweet Thing,” and “Ain’t Nobody”—with the band expressing their love for the singer during her introduction and outro. Chaka’s appearance during the Lettuce set was sandwiched in between two smaller solo segments from the band, which saw Lettuce pulling numbers from their more traditional catalog. Ranging from the set-opener, “Mt. Crushmore,” which is the title track off the group’s latest release, to songs pulled from ten years ago and beyond, such as “By Any Shmeeans Necessary” and “Last Suppit” off of 2008’s Rage!, the band was fully dialed into their set in its entirety, with the collaboration with Chaka Khan helping fuel the high-energy performance.
