Lettuce reignited its collaboration with the Colorado Symphony on Sunday at Denver’s Mission Ballroom.

Having first teamed up in 2018 for a special one-night engagement at Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the future funk sextet and Colorado Symphony also released a live album and concert film on Saturday, a day before reuniting at Mission Ballroom. Simply titled Lettuce with the Colorado Symphony, the album and film document their initial collaboration, which featured arrangements of Lettuce classics like “Mt. Crushmore”, “Madison Square”, and many more with the symphony augmenting the band’s already sophisticated orchestration. They later teamed up again for a very special concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre with Tower of Power.

Lettuce With The Colorado Symphony Trailer

Riding the wave of excitement from the release, Lettuce and the Colorado Symphony built on their historic partnership with a concert of truly epic proportions. Dressed in suits to match the formality of their esteemed special guests, Lettuce treated fans to an unforgettable night of symphonic funk, with original tunes “Blast Off”, “Vámonos”, “Tryllis”, “Gang Ten”, and “Phyllis”, which finished with one of several explosive drum solos from Adam Deitch, and soulful covers featuring Nigel Hall on lead vocals including Curtis Mayfield‘s “Move On Up” and Tears for Fears‘ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”—all beefed up by the addition of the orchestra’s strings, horns, woodwinds, and percussion. Digging into the classical canon, they also played a hip-hop arrangement of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart‘s Requiem.
