LEVITATION will return to Austin, TX for a 2024 Halloween weekend takeover of psych, punk, indie, shoegaze, electronic, and more. The Reverberation Appreciation Society-presented festival will occupy ten venues throughout the Texas state capital from October 31st–November 3rd.
The Black Angels will return once again as hosts—with OSEES again staging their traditional four-night run through the festival—and top the Halloween night lineup loaded with international talent including Niger sensation Mdou Moctar, Brazil’s Boogarins, Japanese psych-rock heavies Acid Mothers Temple, and British electronic body music vets Nitzer Ebb along with Julie, A Place To Bury Strangers, Starcrawler, Frost Children, Axel Boman, Patrick Holland, Boris performing 1998’s Amplifier Worship, and more. On Friday, November 1st, legendary punk band The Jesus Lizard will headline the bill alongside indie darling Soccer Mommy with a dose of pop from The Drums. Other highlights include French space-rock favorite SLIFT and cross-generational post-punk from OGs Gang of Four and newcomer Dry Cleaning, along with sets by Swirlies, Special Interest, Arc De Soleil, Fat Dog, Pissed, The Chameleons performing their 1986 album Strange Times, and many others.
Saturday, November 2nd will bring electronic to the forefront with top acts Tycho and Washed Out, with a counterbalance of rock from Panchiko, shoegaze upstart Wisp, punks Destroy Boys, hardcore stalwart Integrity, and heavy metal from Fugitive. Other Saturday highlights include Wine Lips, Death Valley Girls, Die Spitz, Rendez Vous, The Dare, Alison’s Halo, Arushi Jain, Wu Lu, Crawlers, and more. Finally, LEVITATION 2024 will wrap on Sunday, November 3rd with shoegaze titan Slowdive, a reunion by Austin’s native stoner metal luminary The Sword, doom metal pioneer Pentagram, shoegazers Drop Nineteens, singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya, and indie rockers illuminati hotties. The final day of LEVITATION is rounded out by Airiel, Glare, Ringo Deathstarr, Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol, The Well, Hello Mary, Sailor Poon, and Farmer’s Wife. L.A. record label Jazz Is Dead will also present a three-night run with French greats Cortex and Adrian Younge at Antone’s.
This expansive lineup will find its home at venues across Austin’s Red River District, East Side, and beyond. Bands will be packaged together for 30-plus individual shows, with attendees able to pick and choose what shows they want to hit or go all-in with the four-day pass granting admission to every show (starting at $395 before fees).
