Though it’s been bootlegged and circulated for decades, Led Zeppelin has finally released audio of their unreleased song, “Sugar Mama.” The track will appear on the forthcoming deluxe remastered release for the album Coda (1982), though it has been in the Zeppelin canon for much longer.

As it turns out, the song was initially intended for the Led Zeppelin album, which was originally released in 1969. The track was recorded in 1968, and takes its inspiration from Sonny Boy Williamson’s “Sugar Mama Blues.” With heavy slide riffs and powerful Robert Plant vocals, this is a distinctly early Led Zeppelin song. As this package is the final installment of the deluxe reissue series from Jimmy Page, we’re certainly hopeful that the guitarist hits the road and plays some new music (a la Robert Plant). Page has said he’s interested in forming a new band in the past, so we’re excited to see if that comes to fruition.
