Last night marked the beginning of Trey Anastasio’s orchestral tour, as the Phish guitarist is slated to play with three different symphonies throughout the month of September. As previously reported, these orchestral performances would be the stage for Anastasio to debut his new symphonic piece, “Petrichor.”

Yesterday’s show with the Portland Orchestra featured a number of Phish classics, including “First Tube,” “Divided Sky,” “Brian & Robert,” “Stash,” “Guyute,” “You Enjoy Myself,” and “Water In The Sky.” The set also included Trey’s other orchestral piece, “Time Turns Elastic,” which was included on Phish’s Joy (2009) album, but scrapped from the live rotation after a handful of performances.

“Petrichor” flows from section to section, and was received with a standing ovation. Thanks to Youtube user Phoompapa, we have footage of Petrichor’s debut.

Enjoy!
