Lizzo announced during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Monday night that her new album is now finished. The latest LP, due out on April 15th, 2022, will serve as the follow-up to the rapper/singer/flautist’s acclaimed 2019 major label debut, Cuz I Love You.
“Three frickin years, baby, I been working on this album,” an excited Lizzo said of the yet-untitled record’s completion. “I feel amazing.”
After explaining to Corden and fellow guest Gabrielle Union that she first played the new album for her friends (who started twerking) and her mom (who started crying), Lizzo allowed him to pull out a “top secret” vinyl prop featuring a snippet of new song “About Damn Time”—a shimmering, disco-funk anthem laced with quotable refrains tailor-made for the dance floor.
