Rick Rosas, the long-time on-and-off bassist for Neil Young, has passed away at the age of 65. Rosas has been involved with a number of Young’s projects since 1987, when the two were introduced at Farm Aid III. Prior to that, Rosas had done session work for Eagles and James Gang guitarist Joe Walsh.
Since their initial meeting, Rosas has performed with the Neil Young family consistently. He played with Pegi Young & The Survivors, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Buffalo Springfield, and even recently filled in for Crazy Horse when Billy Talbot suffered a stroke. In a 2007 film, Young praised Rick “The Bass Player” Rosas, saying “Rick can play anything!”
Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina announced Rosas’ passing via Facebook. As of now, no cause of death has been revealed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rosas’ family and loved ones.
