Countercultural jester Wavy Gravy is set to celebrate his 85th birthday on May 15th and in honor of the occasion, some of his friends will get together (virtually) for Love For Wavy. The webcast will take place May 14th–16th and feature “songs, tributes, and stories” from Bob Weir & Wolf Bros, Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi, Joan Baez, Bonnie Raitt & Jackson Browne, and many more.
Presented in partnership with Seva, Love For Wavy will also host Steve Earle, Chris Robinson & Los Hermanos Cosmicos, Ani DiFranco, Graham Nash, Michael Franti, Ben Harper, Jorma Kaukonen, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Ace of Cups, Maria Muldaur, and Steve Kimock.

The webcast will also serve as a fundraiser for Seva. Since its formation in 1978, the Seva Foundation has worked as a non-profit to help restore the gift of sight across the world. Throughout its history, the organization has been intrinsically tied to the counterculture music scene going back to its beginnings in Berkley, CA. After being founded by figures including Wavy Gravy (born Hugh Romney) and Ram Dass, Seva has kept close ties with the psychedelic music scene and even hosted the Grateful Dead at the organization’s first benefit concert back in 1979. Bob Weir also serves as a lifetime honorary member on Seva’s board of directors.
This latest birthday celebration for the beloved clown comes after 2020’s “Quarantine Concert“, which featured archival content from 12 years of Seva benefit concerts. Fans can receive a link to Love For Wavy by signing up on Seva’s website.
