The Lumineers shared a cover of “Silent Night” on Friday, which the band released on streaming services worldwide. All proceeds from the song will benefit the National Independent Venue Association Emergency Relief Fund (NIVA).
In addition to the audio version of the song found on sites like Spotify and Apple Music, The Lumineers also included a video along with the YouTube upload. In just under four minutes, the video includes pictures and clips of the band performing at independent venues across the country. Venues like Hi-Fi in Indianapolis, IN; The Nick Rocks in Birmingham, AL; The Monkey Barrel in Denver, CO; Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, PA; and many more can be seen throughout, as the soft piano and vocal harmonies from The Lumineers carry the holiday classic.

The band conveyed an important message throughout the video, explaining NIVA and the “Save Our Stages” act for which they are raising money. Text overlays throughout read:
When COVID-19 hit, independent music venues were the first to close. They will be the last to reopen, if they can survive this. The live event industry is experiencing upwards of 90% revenue loss. With enormous overhead, venues are at the precipice of disaster. Already, hundreds have gone under forever.
The mission of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) is to preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent live event venues and promoters throughout the United States.
Without support from Congress, 90% of NIVA’s independent venues across America say they will be forced to permanently shut their doors.
The NIVA Emergency Relief Fund has been established to provide venues with financial relief, while we wait for Congress to pass the Save Our Stages Act.
