Fan-favorite Colorado jam band Magic Beans will dissolve next year, the group announced in a social media post on Monday. Following the remaining dates on Magic Beans’ 2025 calendar, the group will say goodbye with one last edition of its long-running Colorado music festival, Beanstalk in August 2026.

In a statement addressed to “Beloved Team Bean,” the affectionate nickname for the band’s fanbase, the quartet composed of Scott Hachey (guitar and vocals), Casey Russell (keyboards and vocals), Chris Duffy (bass and vocals), and Cody Wales (drums) wrote, “After 15 years of making music and living the dream, we have reached the end of our collective journey. The Magic Beans will perform our final shows throughout the remainder of 2025 and cap it off at Beanstalk Festival 2026 for one last go.”

“This has truly been the most fulfilling and unbelievable ride of our lives thus far,” the statement continues. “To go from college house parties in 4-Mile Canyon, to touring the country and putting our flag down on the biggest stages was a hell of an arc. Never could’ve imagined where this band would take us and so grateful for every stop along the way.”

“The people we met out there have become friends/family for life,” the message from Magic Beans also notes. “You all inspired us and reminded us how much good there is in the world. To have our music listened to and appreciated is all any artist wants. You took it one step further though and let the music into your lives. To hear people making our tunes the background to their weddings, funerals, relocations, medical treatments, road trips, etc is by far the most fulfilling aspect of the Beans. Other bands had the hype while we got by on the love from our community. Endlessly indebted to the Team.”

“This is a hard post to make, but ‘everything’s been said, if you’d only listen,'” the note adds, quoting the lyrics from Magic Beans track “Contraband” from 2019 LP Off Leash.

After to thanking specific people including band members and crew for their role in shaping “the music and community” (Scott, Casey, Duffy, Cody, Kirk, Trask, Hunter, Josh, Chris, Mike, Austin, Nate, Tim, Sean, Jordan, Adam, Ryan, Phil), the note concludes with a shimmer of hope amid its overall tone of finality: “Maybe one day these Beans will ride again or continue in a new, unique way. But for right now this is the end. Thanks for bean there and thanks for bean you!”

Formed in the early 2010s in the Colorado mountains, based around Nederland and Boulder, Magic Beans built a dedicated local following through their eclectic blend of funk, rock, bluegrass, and electronica. After getting their start with college house parties and backyard jams, they gradually grew into a nationally touring act, headlining major stages, performing at notable events, and launching their own three-day Beanstalk Festival. Per the band’s website, over the course of 15 years, Magic Beans played more than a thousand shows, wrote over a hundred original songs.

The final run of live Magic Beans concerts will begin this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, November 7th and 8th, with a two-night run at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA, followed by a performance at Brooksville, FL’s Sunshine Hootenanny on November 13th. From there, the band will return home to Colorado to finish out its story with a November 22nd show at Thunder River Theater in Carbondale, a two-night run at Keystone’s The Goat on December 19th and 20th, and a two-show New Year’s run at Denver’s Ogden Theatre on December 30th and 31st. Finally, the band will return to the stage next summer to finish with a bang at the 2026 edition of Beanstalk Festival in Bond, CO.
