Hometown heroes Magic Beans made their grand debut at Denver, CO’s Ogden Theatre on Friday. The show saw the Beans perform alongside North Carolina exports Big Something.

The show marked the next leap for Magic Beans, who continue to ride a career arc over a decade in the making. After cutting their teeth at Mile High hotspots like Cervantes’ Other Side and Quixote’s True Blue, filling the 1,600 capacity theater signaled the start of a new era for the Beans.

Friday’s show gave equal love to both 2018’s Casino Cabaret and last year’s Slice of Life, with the former’s title track opening the concert. The Beans also offered a couple oldies for the hometown crowd with “Sucka Blues” and “Do Your Thing”. Midway through the set, guitarist Scott Hachey welcomed tour manager Austin Koontz, aka “Youth Large,” to the stage to take the crowd to Stankonia courtesy of OutKast‘s “So Fresh, So Clean”. Magic Beans had another cover in store as the following “Mr. Scientist” led into Dire Straits‘ “Money For Nothing”.
