MarchFourth Marching Band arrived in Boulder, CO’s Fox Theatre on Friday night with their circus-inspired funk music in tow.

A nine-piece outfit, The Pamlico Sound, started things off. Playing through originals, the band showed off their ability to inject elements of rock, pop, and other world music influences into their high-energy funk and soul-infused sound

Following Pamlico Sound’s opening set, MarchFourth took the stage in the usual fashion, with multi-piece percussion and brass sections, an electric bass, guitars, dancers, and acrobats, all donning their marching band and circus-themed costumes.

The group of about 20 musicians, described as “a kaleidoscope of musical and visual energy,” played through a catalog of originals and covers during their 2020 winter tour stop in Boulder. Known for theatrics, MarchFourth treated fans to many stage antics as they cycled through songs off their three studio albums, including 2009’s Rise Up, 2011’s Magnificent Beast, and 2017’s Magic Number.
