On Thursday, The Marcus King Band shared their first-ever official music video for “Goodbye Carolina”, the wistful lament from their acclaimed 2018 album, Carolina Confessions.

The retro film-style video examines a fraught relationship between two lovers, using nature and down-home domiciles as the backdrop for the heartstring-tugging narrative. As Marcus King notes in a statement about the video, “I wrote ‘Goodbye Carolina’ from the perspective of a dear friend we lost in 2017. ‘Carolina’ represents whatever you have the hardest time saying goodbye to.”
