Among the busiest artists on Montage Mountain on Peach was 21-year-old Marcus King. The young guitarist lent his “psychedelic southern rock” sound to the evening’s highly-awaited All-Star Tribute to Gregg Allman and Butch Trucks (led by Chuck Leavell and featuring JaimoeOteil Burbridge, Marc QuinonesDuane Trucks and a long list of other extended Allmans “family” members) as well as Gov’t Mule & Friends fantastic performance with John Scofield, Widespread Panic’s John Bell and Jimmy Herring, and a slew of other beloved musicians. Below, you can watch King and Jack Pearson join Gov’t Mule for The Marshall Tucker Band’s “Can’t You See” at The Peach below via YouTube user Sean Roche:

But while King always puts on an exciting exhibition when he guests with other bands, he always shines the brightest when leading his full 6-piece outfit, The Marcus King Band, which he did to thrilling effect on the festivals Mushroom Stage in the earlier hours of the afternoon. In addition to extended renditions of many of the tracks from the band’s critically-acclaimed self-titled 2016 album, King and company welcomed Eric Krasno (Soulive, Lettuce, Eric Krasno Band) to help him add extra six-string texture to fan-favorite tune “Rita Is Gone.” Watch video of Eric Krasno’s sit-in on The Marcus King Band track “Rita Is Gone” below, via YouTube user Sean Roche:
