The two major headlines of The Grateful Dead’s 50th anniversary will be intersecting come July. It was first announced back in October that beloved filmmaker Martin Scorsese would be producing a documentary in honor of the milestone celebration, months before the famed “Fare Thee Well” reunion shows were ever announced.

It seems that Scorsese will be on-hand at the “Fare Thee Well” concerts, filming all three nights for footage for the upcoming movie. The Daily Beast broke the story, saying that a source close to production has confirmed this report.
Back in October, Scorsese was quoted as saying “The Grateful Dead were more than just a band. They were their own planet, populated by millions of devoted fans. I’m very happy that this picture is being made and proud to be involved.” We’re certainly excited to see what Scorsese has in store!
