On Wednesday, Melvin Seals & JGB announced a lineup change, which will see the band welcome vocalist Mary-eL and part ways with Sunshine Becker. The lineup change comes as JGB prepares to head out on an extensive 2019 fall tour featuring guitarist John Kadleck.
Sunshine Becker will perform with the band throughout the remainder of their September dates. Mary-eL will officially join Melvin Seals & JGB alongside fellow singer Lady Chi at the band’s performance in Mitchell, KY on October 5th. Mary-eL has performed with Seals and Kadlecik many times including at LOCKN’ in 2015 as part of JGB.
The announcement was shared via Melvin Seals & JGB’s Facebook. The band noted,
The addition of John Kadlecik has brought forth a positive energy we haven’t felt in some time. It’s been fun, exciting and we have a lot to look forward to! Change is inevitable and it’s important that the music always pushes forward and never takes a step back.
In addition to the official lineup change, Melvin Seals & JGB will welcome Jennifer Hartswick during the second half of their fall tour. As of publication time, Hartswick is set to join the band in Asbury Park, NJ on October 19th; Buffalo, NY on October 20th; Roanoke, VA on October 24th; and Atlanta on October 27th.
Next up for Melvin Seals & JGB is a pair of shows this weekend in Minnesota and South Dakota, followed by an appearance at California’s Santa Cruz Mountain Sol Festival next weekend and three nights at San Rafael’s Terrapin Crossroads on September 26th–28th.
