Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo briefly traded metal for blues-rock on Tuesday at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium in an homage to Georgia music heroes The Allman Brothers Band.

For their nightly “Kirk and Rob Doodle” segment, when the pair spends a few minutes jamming as a duo and often incorporate songs by local legends, Hammett swapped out his recognizable ESP KH2 “Mummy” guitar for a Gibson Les Paul and eased into “No Remorse”. Before long, however, Trujillo called a timeout.

“Nah, nah, nah,” Trujillo said as Hammett quickly slipped on a slide. “We gotta do something for Georgia.” With that, he counted into “One Way Out”, the Delta blues classic famously co-opted by local heroes The Allman Brothers Band, giving Hammett a chance to show off his Southern blues-rock chops.
