Last Friday, fans at the Metallica show at Inglewood, CA’s SoFi Stadium noticed an unusual concert-goer in their midst: a dog, seemingly unattended, who appeared to be thoroughly enjoying the show from the seats.
A photo of the dog attending the concert made the rounds on social media when it was posted by an animal rescue organization. “We are looking for a possible foster,” The Animal Hope & Wellness Foundation wrote in its post. “We are looking for a possible foster. Last night at the Metallica concert [SoFi Stadium], someone abandoned their pup in the middle of the stadium. The dog was sitting in a seat, and was there for hours. [She] was taken to the local shelter, which at the moment we are trying to pull her from.”
“Regardless of what people think, no dog should be taken to a rock concert,” the post continued. “It was extremely loud, and that poor pup was definitely scared. The dog looks to be a Akita Shephard mix. Very friendly and sweet.”
While that post was geared toward finding a new home for this seriously metal pup, it wound up making its way to the dog’s owner, Arizabeth Hurtado, who lives near the stadium and was not at the concert herself. Rather, the dog, identified as Storm, had run away from home and somehow found her way into the Metallica show.
As Hurtado, who was reunited with Storm the next morning after seeing the Foundation’s post, told pet-focused publication PetHelpful about her metal AF pup, “She is home and safe! We learned something new about her.. she is apparently a huge Metallica fan who decided to sneak out for the concert!”

In a social media post on Thursday, Metallica set the record straight about the concert’s insta-famous canine attendee. “You might have heard we had a four-legged fan join us for #M72LA!” the band wrote. “Despite reports to the contrary, our friend Storm snuck out of her home adjacent to [SoFi Stadium] and made her way to the gig all by herself.”
“After a full night taking in the show with her #MetallicaFamily,” the post continued, “Storm was safely reunited with her actual family the next day. She had a great time listening to her favorite songs, including ‘Barx Æterna,’ ‘Master of Puppies,’ and ‘The Mailman That Never Comes.’ And in case you were wondering, no. You definitely shouldn’t bring your furry friends to the #M72 World Tour. But this dog sure did have her day…”
