Critics of Metallica headlining Glastonbury may want to “sleep with one eye open, gripping your pillow tight”, because Metallica heard your remarks. And then Metallica turned those remarks into their official t-shirt.

The shirt is a collection of quotes from fellow artists like Mogwai, Artic Monkey’s Alex Turner, and Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker along with media outlets NME and The Guardian regarding their disappointment with Metallica being chosen to headline the festival.

Controversy also stirred over Metallica’s frontman James Hetfield’s narrating a documentary about bear hunting, which resulted in a petition to have them kicked off the bill. Metallica responded with a bear hunting spoof video featuring the band members in bear suits shooting at hunters with a mash-up of “What Did The Fox Say” and Fox On The Run” accompanying them. They played the video, which you can view below, before dubbing themselves “Glastallica” and jumping into their set yesterday.

Despite all of the pre-show criticism, Metallica received good reviews and won over new fans, and really, in the end, “nothing else matters”.
