Midnight North has released Live From Peaches Records, an album recorded one year ago in New Orleans, LA.

The release is available exclusively through Bandcamp and comes just days after the company announced its second revenue sharing day, taking place this Friday, May 1st. All revenue from orders placed through Bandcamp this Friday will go directly to the artists, without Bandcamp taking its usual 15% cut. Bandcamp initially waived revenue for a full day back on March 20th to support artists affected by the live event shutdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic, which helped to raise over $4 Million dollars for musicians.

Midnight North’s new album will include songs off the band’s End of the Night and Under The Lights LPs, as well as songs not yet on a studio release, all recorded live at Peaches Records in New Orleans.

Midnight North members Grahame Lesh, Elliot Peck, Connor O’Sullivan, and Nathan Graham noted in a press release:

Oh, how we miss New Orleans and Jazz Fest right now! To help deal with our longing, we are releasing this special set of music performed live one year ago today at Peaches Records in New Orleans.

When Jazz Fest veterans talk about those two magical weeks every year they begin to talk with a reverence that is difficult to understand for those who haven’t experienced it. Last year we lived that hallowed experience. We were in New Orleans for over a week, all of us playing and watching countless sets of music at the festival grounds and at crowded late night clubs. We had even rocked our first late night headlining set at a club called Gasa Gasa. Now, one week spent at Jazz Fest means different things depending on when you’re thinking about it. On Day 1 you can stay there forever. Around Day 6 or 7 (or 8, 9, etc) if can seem like you’ve been there for months and you may never leave. But as soon as you leave it feels like it went by far too fast.

Most of us were on Day 6 when we woke up the morning of Monday, April 29, 2019; deep in the Jazz Fest experience. And most of us probably didn’t want it to be “morning” when we woke up. But we had one more gig to play. We got up early, even by the standards of real life, and set up to play a lunch time set at the famed Peaches Record Store on Magazine Street. Lucky for us, the tapes were rolling and the engineers who organized the performances captured the whole thing.

That set, mixed by those wonderful engineers, Ben & Curry Weber of the Library Creative, is our new live release “Live From Peaches Records”. We can’t be in New Orleans this year, but you can experience a little bit of our time at Jazz Fest 2019.

Midnight North – Live From Peaches Records

Live From Peaches Records will serve as a prelude to a full-length studio effort by Midnight North. When Live For Live Music caught up with Grahame Lesh for an interview back in January, he explained that the band was about to record a new studio album. While no release date has been set, fans can expect that to come out later this year. For the latest information, head to the band’s website here.
