Miley Cyrus brought an eclectic mix of performers along for her 2022 live NBC New Year’s Eve special in Miami. As she told Jimmy Fallon last week ahead of the year-ending the broadcast, “It is curated in a way that makes no sense, but makes total sense.”

True to Miley’s word, the NBC New Year’s celebration, which she co-hosted with her famous godmother Dolly Parton, included a long list of musicians like David Byrne, Sia, Latto, Paris Hilton, FLETCHER, Liily, and Rae Sremmurd as well as comedians like Sarah Silverman and SNL writing team Please Don’t Destroy.

Even aside from the added cameos, Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton delivered plenty of highlights of their own. In addition to various comedic sketches and plenty of playful banter, Miley and Dolly brought black and pink glamour to a medley of Patsy Cline‘s “Walkin’ After Midnight” and Parton’s iconic “Jolene” with the house band. The pair also delivered a powerful live combo of Miley’s “Wrecking Ball” and Dolly anthem “I Will Always Love You”, which was later popularized by the late Whitney Houston, a rocking performance of Joan Jett‘s “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll”, and more. Talking Heads mastermind David Byrne made the most of his appearance by joining Miley Cyrus on David Bowie classic “Let’s Dance”, American Utopia (2018) track “Everybody’s Coming To My House”, and offering up a duet with Sia on her 2016 hit “Unstoppable”.
