Renowned producer Moby is set to release yet another all star collaboration, this time with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, as the first single from his upcoming album, ‘Innocents’. The track, which is called ‘The Perfect Life’, will be released on iTunes on September 10th, with a video set to debut on September 3rd.
Moby talked about why he chose his old friend, Coyne, for the song, explaining “The Flaming Lips have evolved in this very open, celebratory band when they play live, and that was the perfect vibe for what I was imagining for ‘The Perfect Life.’ I texted Wayne and said, ‘Hey, I have a song – want to sing on it?’ Thirty seconds later, he texted me back: ‘Yes, send it to me, it will be great.”
A teaser video has also leaked, featuring the artists and extras all on a rooftop, singing the song with just an acoustic guitar. Moby explained the concept of the video, “A few weeks ago Wayne and I spent the day making a video for ‘The Perfect Life’. then at the end of the day we broke out an acoustic guitar and gathered all of the extras on a rooftop overlooking L.A and sang an unrehearsed, impromptu version of the song. Please keep in mind we had no idea what we were doing.”
Moby has announced three shows at the Fonda Theater in LA in support of the album, on October 2-4th. The Flaming Lips were just announced as headliners for Arizona’s True Music Festival on December 14.
