For 15 years, moe. fans enthusiastically attended their favorite band’s homegrown festival, moe.down. The annual event was a staple of the moe. fan’s calendar, up until 2014, when the band announced an unfortunate hiatus for future moe.down festivals. After taking two years off, in 2015 and 2016, moe. has finally announced the festival’s triumphant return!

The new moe.down will again be held at the Snow Ridge Ski Resort in Turin, NY, but will move to July 4th weekend, running from June 30th through July 2nd. Though moe. has yet to reveal the full lineup, they have confirmed a total of seven sets throughout the three days of music, camping, and fun.

The band has also promised a return to their roots for the upcoming moe.down 16, focusing on the family and friends aspect that has made the festival so great in years past. “moe.down, for me, is a family event in many ways,” said bassist Rob Derhak. “My children have grown up there, and have made friends there. We look forward to it the same way one would look forward to a family reunion.”

Chuck Garvey adds, “To me, moe.down has always been a mix the best ‘laid back, friends and family, backyard throw downs.’ Musical and non-musician loved ones come from all over and as a result, we all have this special atmosphere where everything is better. Friends revel, everyone gets together with almost a singular communal purpose and the band reflects that onstage throughout the weekend. I look forward to having that back again this year and hopefully many more to come!”

For longtime moe. fans, this announcement may not be a total shock. The band has long talked about reviving their festival, and even recently began trolling their fans about its return – quite literally. An image of a new moe.down logo appeared on the band’s website last weekend, linking to a video of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Another “update” posted earlier this week just led to a photo of trolls. It’s all in good fun, of course, and the festival is coming back strongly in 2017!

You can head to the moe.down website for more information, with tickets going on sale this Friday, December 16th at 12 PM Eastern. You can also see moe.’s full tour schedule, below.
