moe. and Eggy just wrapped an eight-show run of joint tour dates, and the double-decker jam band bill left a flurry of collaborations in its wake. Throughout the Midwest, the jam-rock elders of moe. routinely brought out members of the Connecticut foursome-turned-temporary-threesome that continues making waves in the community moe. helped foster decades ago. With the tour in the rearview, we’re taking a look back at all the onstage collaborations from the moe. and Eggy summer run.

The two bands were well-acquainted from the first night of the tour on August 5th at The Burl Outdoors in Lexington, KY, where moe. welcomed guitarist Jake Brownstein, drummer Alex Bailey, and keyboardist Dani Battat for an encore of the Grateful Dead‘s “Deal”. Eggy is currently touring as a trio while bassist Mike Goodman takes some time off the road for his mental health.

The collabs continued at the next show at the Peoria Riverfront in Illinois, booked as part of a series of shows to satiate Midwest jam band fans while Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie (f/k/a Summer Camp Music Festival) takes a year off. moe. once again closed the evening with help from Eggy, bringing Brownstein out for one last round on “Happy Hour Hero”.

After both bands played separate sets at People Fest in Hillsboro, WI, they linked back up at Paw Paw, MI’s Warner Vineyards on August 9th where Eggy flipped the script and brought moe.’s Al Schnier and Rob Derhak out during their opening set for Tom Petty‘s “You Don’t Know How It Feels”.

The next few shows saw moe. and Eggy alternate sit-in duties, as Eggy joined moe. for the Grateful Dead’s “Cassidy” in Interlochen, MI (8/12) and Chuck Garvey sat in with Eggy on Little Feat‘s “Time Loves A Hero” in Cleveland (8/15), only for Eggy to come right back out for Pink Floyd‘s “Time” > “Breathe (Reprise)” with moe. that same night. Fun fact: in 2011, Eggy’s Alex Bailey attended the popular music program at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, only to return 14 years later to play some popular music (check out the third slide below for a vintage photo).

Finally, the joint tour came to a close on Saturday in Indianapolis, IN, where moe. celebrated Derhak’s birthday and brought Eggy out one more time for The Band‘s “Ophelia”.

Check out videos and audio of the collabs from the moe. and Eggy joint tour. Both bands have a break in touring before moe. gets back on the road Labor Day Weekend for a set at Adirondack Independence Music Festival in Lake George, NY followed by a run of Northeast shows, while Eggy picks back up on September 4th in Baltimore.
