Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and guitar phenom Molly Tuttle has unveiled her newest single, “Old Me (New Wig)”, the latest preview from her genre-blurring new album, So Long Little Miss Sunshine, due out August 15th via Nonesuch Records.
Following the breakout success of lead single “That’s Gonna Leave A Mark”, which hit #1 on Americana Radio and became her first song to debut in the Top 20 at AAA, Tuttle’s latest track dives even deeper into personal growth and fearless self-reinvention. “‘Old Me (New Wig)’ started off as a breakup song,” Tuttle shared, “but it became about letting go of the versions of yourself that no longer serve you, like low self-esteem or impostor syndrome.”
The track is the latest example of Tuttle’s artistic evolution, marking a sonic shift from her bluegrass roots to a sound that blends pop, rock, folk, and country in a fresh, modern way. The album, produced by Jay Joyce (Orville Peck, Lainey Wilson), features contributions from Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show and showcases Tuttle not just as a flatpicking virtuoso, but as a fearless songwriter ready to break genre boundaries and explore deeper personal themes.
The 12-track project includes the ethereal “Golden State of Mind”, the haunting ballad “Rosalee”, and the banjo-driven “Summer of Love”. It’s her most stylistically adventurous record to date and the first to feature Tuttle not only on guitar, but also on banjo in two of the tracks. Pre-save or pre-order the album here.
Earlier this month, Tuttle was featured on CBS Saturday Morning and praised by NPR’s Ann Powers for “continuing to defy bluegrass’s rules” and creating what Holler called “an effortlessly cool blast of breezy, soft pop-tinged country-folk… the soundtrack of our Summer in 2025.”
Molly Tuttle will bring her new sound to stages across the country with a 58-date North American tour this fall and winter, hitting major festivals, iconic venues, and headlining dates coast-to-coast—including stops at Brooklyn Steel, Thalia Hall, The Fillmore, and Rhythm & Roots Festival.
