The band that brought you 80′s metal hits like “Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S.)”, “Shout at the Devil”, “Girls, Girls, Girls”, “Dr. Feelgood”, and “Kickstart My Heart” is getting ready to announce dates for a farewell world tour in 2014. According to Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil,
“We’ll do one more time around the world and kinda call it quits,” Neil said. “It’s just that time. We’re going out on top. We don’t want to be some band that people are like, ‘Oh, they’re playing a club now,’ that kind of band. We still sell out arenas, have stadium stuff and things like that, so let’s go out when it’s a big deal.”
With guitarist Mick Mars‘ health issues – he recently had hip replacement surgery and is dealing with a form of arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis – and the fact that they still sell out arenas and want to go out on top, it seems like the time is right for the Crüe.
Neil mentioned the possibility of future one-off reunion shows, but that a full-scale tour is just not in the cards. He also brought up the possibility of some new tracks seeing the light of day before the final tour, as well as discussed the band’s upcoming Las Vegas residency at the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino, saying,
“The thing about playing in Vegas is you can do so much more because you don’t have to tear it down and build it back up the next day,” he continued. “You can do effects that stay there. So we’re really looking forward to it. You can call it our most dangerous show ever – not danger for us but danger for the crowd. I thought the last residency was cool, but we learned we could do way more than we actually did, so this will be really, really over the top.”
