Saturday afternoon at Glastonbury Festival in Pilton, Somerset, UK, marks the first performance of Mumford and Sons members together since their announcement of an indefinite hiatus last September. The band joined four-piece-female-folk outfit HAIM on the Gentleman of the Road Stage in the Avalon Cafe.
Winston Marshall first appeared during the HAIM set for a cover of Fleetwood Mac‘s, “Oh Well”, before the remaining 3 members came out, as well. This surprise set also featured two Rolling Stones covers, “Dead Flowers” and “Honky Tonk Women”. Last summer, Mumford and Sons were forced to cancel their headlining performance at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, when bassist Ted Dwane needed emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain. Jack Johnson took their slot last minute.
L4LM hopes that this impromptu performance, in addition to their involvement curating a stage at Glastonbury, mark the beginnings of a return for the band, and also that Ted’s recovery is going well.
