The tribute performance will feature a star-studded lineup of performers including Alice Cooper, Gary Clark Jr., John Legend, and John Mayer. Foo Fighters, Yola, H.E.R., Emily King, and the Jonas Brothers will also join the star-studded lineup to pay homage to the Rock n Roll legends.
Aerosmith Named MusiCares 2020 “Person of the Year”
The event, which honors a musician or band every year for their contributions to music culture, will take place on January 24th, 2020 in Los Angeles—two days before the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards at the Staples Center. The concert will see the lineup of musicians perform songs from Aerosmith’s extensive catalog with the help of musical director Greg Philinganes.
Previous MusiCares Person of the Year presentations have honored Dolly Parton, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Lionel Richie, and Bob Dylan.
A statement provided by MusiCares explains the reasoning for honoring Aerosmith at this years ceremony,
Aerosmith will be recognized for their considerable philanthropic efforts and undeniable impact on American music history. Over the years, Aerosmith has shown support for a number of charity organizations around the world, including MusiCares and vocalist Steven Tyler’s own philanthropic initiative Janie’s Fund, which supports young women who’ve suffered the trauma of abuse and neglect.
In its 30th year, the prestigious MusiCares Person of the Year tribute will feature a silent auction, VIP experiences, and a gala dinner before the award presentation. Proceeds from the event aid MusiCares in achieving its mission to provide a safety net of services to musicians, and those working in the industry, who need such services.
