A number of notable musicians are set to take part in Musicians For Kamala, a virtual rally in support of vice president Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign on National Voter Registration Day (Tuesday, September 17th from 8:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m).
Produced by top music and entertainment industry professionals in partnership with The Harris Walz Campaign and The Harris Victory Fund, the livestream event is due to feature an eclectic mix of well-known musicians and bands including Aaron Lee Tasjan, Adam Blackstone & DIXSON, Bootsy Collins, Devo, Elvin Bishop & Los Lobos, George Porter Jr., Dumpstaphunk, Jack Johnson, Jefferson Starship, John Densmore of The Doors, Living Colour, Maggie Rose, Mickey Guyton, Moby, Rising Appalachia, Roseanne Cash, Shiela E., Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Zach Gill of ALO, and more.
As a description of the event reads, “Musicians For Kamala is more than a fundraiser—it’s a call to action for all who believe in democracy, equality, and progress. With a star-studded lineup, we’ll harness the energy of music to drive voter registration, rally support, and fuel donations for the Harris-Walz Campaign as we rapidly approach one of the most pivotal elections of our time. … Whether you’re an artist, an industry professional, or a passionate music fan, this event is your chance to come together with like-minded individuals who believe in the transformative power of music and civic engagement. In other music-related 2024 election news, following Tuesday night’s debate between Kamala Harris and her opponent in the presidential race, former president Donald Trump, pop superstar Taylor Swift issued her official endorsement of Harris via a post on Instagram. Per NPR, the post, which currently has more than 11 million likes, drove more than 300,000 visitors to the voter registration website Vote.gov. Trump later appeared to respond to Swift’s endorsement of his opponent, posting in all capital letters on his Truth Social account, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
