The saga of Nandi Bushell and Dave Grohl came full circle on Thursday when the pre-teen viral drumming sensation joined Foo Fighters onstage at The Forum in Los Angeles. The 11-year old YouTube star assisted the alt-rockers on “Everlong” to close the show.

Grohl prefaced Bushell’s surprise appearance at the band’s rescheduled concert by saying, “This person inspired me so much last year.” He went on to offer a quick crash course in the faux internet feud the two shared during the height of the pandemic. After Bushell challenged Grohl to a drum battle on “Everlong”, the two engaged in a comically farcical back-and-forth, submitting each other to challenge after challenge. Ultimately, the 52-year old rock star bowed to the awesome talent of the child prodigy, and even wrote a “theme song” for the “superhero” that is Nandi Bushell.

The strange saga that is Bushell’s “rivalry” with Grohl came to a head as she sat in on the very song that started their internet correspondance. With her father proudly taping the moment from the wings—offering the occasional (and justified) scream of excitement—Bushell pounded out the brisk rhyhtm as Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins sits back and likely purused the classifed ads.
