Nathaniel Rateliff, Margo Price Team Up For First New 'CMT Crossroads' Since March 2020 [Photos/Videos]

CMT Crossroads returned to the airwaves on Friday for its first new episode since March 2020. The musical collaboration program came roaring back to life with an episode featuring Nathaniel Rateliff and Margo Price, recorded at an empty The Factory in Franklin, TN.

The program saw Rateliff and Price trading off verses as well as songs as they mined each other’s respective catalogs. Opening the show with an electrifying dual take on Price’s “Letting Me Down” off 2020’s That’s How Rumors Get Started, the spirit of CMT Crossroads was resurrected after a year in the crypt.

Alongside Rateliff’s longtime backing band The Night Sweats, the two singer-songwriters held a musical relay race with “Say It Louder” from Rateliff’s catalog. Throughout the evening, Rateliff and Price expressed their sincere admiration for each other’s respective songbooks as the spirit of live collaboration once again returned to the stage. The episode continued on with Rateliff’s “Wasting Time” prior to a run through Price’s country-rock anthem “Prisoner of the Highway”.

This latest episode of CMT Crossroads went beyond mere performance and also offered an intimate glimpse at these artists following a year of their separation from fans. Price fostered this intimacy with a story preceding her own “Twinkle Twinkle”, a song written about life on the road following a conversation with Marty Stuart. The episode ultimately came to an explosive end with a firey run through “A Little Honey” to close out the evening.
