According to TMZ, the cast of the upcoming NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton, experienced a very real dose of Compton life yesterday. A drive-by shooting occurred not more than a block away from the set, just outside the Compton Courthouse.
As the report indicates, the shooting was incited by non-affiliated individuals in the neighborhood, who were flashing gang symbols at a passing car. The gang in the car retaliated by opening fire. One person was injured, but thankfully, none were killed.
Filming will continue this week, despite many crewmembers’ safety concerns. Ice Cube recently commented to MTV News, “This is our legacy, you can’t play with this, there’s no cutting corners. I’m fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It’s gotta be right.”
