Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart has died, according to CBC News and Rolling Stone. Reports say that the prolific drummer died January 7th in Santa Monica, CA after battling brain cancer for years. He was 67.

Peart was renowned throughout the rock n’ roll multiverse as the influential drummer for prog-rock pioneers Rush. For nearly half a century, budding drummers have learned from his unique expertise and style of performance, as well as his mammoth drum set up on stage. However he retired from performing, and from Rush, in 2015.
