Neil Young has canceled his 2026 tour dates, which were due to include two months of shows in Europe and the U.K. with The Chrome Hearts.

“I have decided to take a break and will not be touring Europe this time,” Young wrote on his website on Friday. “Thanks to everyone who bought tickets. I’m sorry to let you down, but this is not the time. I do love playing LIVE and being with you and the Chrome Hearts. LOVE Neil be well[.]”

Neil Young did not provide a reason for canceling the tour, set to include 14 shows in England, Scotland, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy. Elvis Costello was signed on to open for some of the shows. Even though the U.K. split from the European Union in 2020, it is understood that Young’s announcement applies to the British territories as well, as the tour was collectively billed under the UK/EU banner.

Young hasn’t performed live since October 25th at his 2025 Harvest Moon Gathering outside L.A., featuring Lana Del Rey and Beck. After abruptly canceling his tour with Crazy Horse in the summer of 2024, Young surprised audiences at Farm Aid with the debut of his new band, The Chrome Hearts, a few months later.

The Chrome Hearts are organist Spooner Oldham (Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section), guitarist Micah Nelson (Particle Kid), and Promise of the Real‘s Corey McCormick on bass and Anthony LoGerfo on drums. Whereas Crazy Horse was heralded for high-octane, heavily distorted concerts with lengthy improv-friendly versions of classic songs, The Chrome Hearts deftly danced on the boundary between Young’s noisier rock songs and his subdued and sentimental folk catalog. Young released an album of new original material with The Chrome Hearts, Talkin to the Trees, in 2025.
