On November 18 at Washington D.C.’s DAR Constitution Hall, American music icon Willie Nelson will be honored by the Library Of Congress with the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first country music artist to do so. According to the Library’s website, the award “honors a living music artist’s lifetime achievement in promoting song to enhance cultural understanding; entertaining and informing audiences; and inspiring new generations.” 

The evening will be complete with appearances by some of Nelson’s peers including inaugural Gershwin Prize winner Paul Simon, as well as Alison KraussRosanne Cash, Jamey Johnson, Raul Malo of the Mavericks, Neil Young and Promise of the Real,Edie Brickell, Leon Bridges, Ana Gabriel, and Buckwheat Zydeco

The event will later be aired on January 15 on PBS.
