The New Mastersounds treated their fans to a special Valentine’s Day gift on Friday with the surprise release of a new recording entitled, “Ginger Beat”. The single-length track hears the members of the quartet including Eddie Roberts and Joe Tatton team up with Spanish guitar player Lucas De Mulder.
According to an Instagram post shared by De Mulder on Thursday, the guitarist from Spain also played with The Nth Power bassist Nate Edgar, along with drummer Alejandro Castaño, horn player Gabriel Mervine, Big Gigantic drummer Jeremy Salken, and keyboardist Chris Spies on these sessions.
Opening with a flurry of 16th notes out the snare drum, the track wastes no time getting up to speed as the instrumental furiously dances along thanks to the lead lines coming from De Mulder. The tone of his guitar glides seamlessly atop a dreamy organ, which itself makes a point to stand out during by the mid-point of the recording.
