With all of the love for David Bowie pouring in, it’s no surprise that New York City would want to pay tribute to the fallen icon in any way possible. With the final performance of Bowie’s play Lazarus running at the New York Theater Workshop, tonight, Mayor Bill de Blasio will be on hand to read the dedication.

message on Bowie’s Facebook page confirmed the news, saying:

It was announced today that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has proclaimed today, January 20, 2016 in the City of New York as David Bowie Day. The proclamation will be read tonight at the curtain call of the final performance of the sold-out run of Lazarus, the New York Theater Workshop production conceived and co-created by Bowie.

The performance is sure to be an emotional one, all things considered. The amount of love for Bowie has been almost overwhelming, with a street sign in Austin, a second line parade led by Arcade Fire in New Orleans, and even a constellation near Mars. RIP David Bowie, you are missed.
