When the Bear Creek Music Festival called it quits last year, longtime fans of the jam festival were devastated. Fortunately for them, the festival recently announced a relocation to New Orleans, under the new name Bear Creek Bayou Music Festival. Scheduled for September 30-October 1, the new festival will be held at Mardi Gras World in NOLA. Today, they’ve released a stellar initial lineup.

The lineup sees The Flaming Lips at the top billing, with tons of great acts scheduled throughout the weekend. Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Lettuce (x2), Soulive, Foundation of Funk (ft. George Porter Jr., Zigaboo Modeliste, John Medeski and Eddie Roberts) (x2), Dumpstaphunk (x2), The Floozies, Lotus, Nth Power, Papadosio, Earphunk, Zigaboo Modeliste & The Funk Review, Tony Hall’s New Orleans Soul Stars Tribute to James Brown, Chali 2na & The House Of Vibe, Zach Deputy, and Flow Tribe!

Not only that, but an impressive roster of artists at large with Pee Wee Ellis, John Medeski, George Porter Jr., Chali 2na, Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman and Skerik will be featured at the festival. There’s also an official pre-party, with sets from Soulive & Friends, OG Gat (ft. Charlie Hunter, Stanton Moore & Skerik), Naughty Professor w/ Chali 2na, and Pirates Choice.
