North Mississippi Allstars brought their blues-drenched Southern swagger to the Gothic Theatre in Englewood, Colorado, just outside Denver, Thursday night.
The Allstars are currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album, Shake Hands with Shorty, which landed them a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2001. Since then, the brothers Dickinson, Cody and Luther, have remained the group’s unshakable foundation, collaborating with numerous artists—from Lucinda Williams to the Dirty Dozen Brass Band—and releasing 20 full-length albums, the latest being 2022’s Set Sail featuring Lamar Williams Jr. That album was likewise nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album at the 65th Annual Grammys Awards in 2023.
