Golden Gate Wingmen members/longtime contributors to Grateful Dead tribute projects Jeff Chimenti and Jay Lane were heading out to A Bear’s Picnic in PA last Saturday, when they got into some trouble with the local authorities.

Out on Route 17 in Windsor, NY, local state troopers pulled Jeffrey P. Chimenti and Jay H. Lane over for a traffic stop. According to the police report, they smelled “marihuana” and searched the vehicle, uncovering 17 grams of the potent potable. The two were arrested, but ultimately they received citations and were sent on their merry way. Interestingly, both Chimenti and Lane were passengers in the vehicle, but are the only names mentioned in the report.

The duo are both members of the relatively-new Golden Gate Wingmen band, and they were also contributing to the Jerry Garcia tribute at the festival, led by Steve Kimock.

Were glad such an innocuous offense didn’t prevent them from performing at the 10th annual Bear’s Picnic festival! Not to mention Chimenti’s upcoming gig with Dead & Company, who just announced a second performance today
