Grammy-nominated electronic duo ODESZA has returned with its first new album in more than five years: The Last Goodbye. Released on Friday via Foreign Family Collective/Ninja Tune, the album features epic cinematic soundscapes, hypnotic house grooves, and cutting edge production.
The Last Goodbye follows 2017’s Grammy-nominated A Moment Apart and includes collaborations with the legendary Bettye LaVette, Ólafur Arnalds, Julianna Barwick, Izzy Bizu, Charlie Houston, The Knocks, Låpsley, and MARO. The album incorporates samples from personal home movies and childhood memories, showcasing the origins of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight in a vivid celebration of the people and moments that have left their mark on our existences.
5 years later and we are here: The Last Goodbye. It’s an album that is centered around the power of connection. While writing it, we began to realize just how impacted and inspired we are by the people around us. How we impart pieces of ourselves onto others and carry that influence with us onward – that we echo out through one another. It’s been an awareness that we hadn’t fully grasped, and in coming to appreciate it, we wanted this project to honor our loved ones and our sense of community. The Last Goodbye is about stepping back in, returning to each other in celebration. It’s meant to be a shared record: one we hope that listeners can experience together, with friends, dancing and rejoicing in that sense of interconnection after so much time apart.
The Last Goodbye is now available on all streaming platforms. Listen to the album via Soundcloud in the player below.
ODESZA will embark on a nearly sold-out amphitheater tour in support of the record, set to kick off on July 29th with a trio of back-to-back sold-out shows in their hometown of Seattle, WA. View a full list of tour dates and purchase tickets via the band’s website.
